ABOUT

Upstairs at Pierre LaFond is one of Santa Barbara's oldest and most coveted boutiques.

The visionary behind these Santa Barbara staple businesses, Pierre Lafond, started his first retail business in 1964 with a wine and cheese store in Montecito. He and his wife, Wendy Foster, grew that little store into a thriving retail destination, which now includes a full-service restaurant, five women’s clothing stores, a gourmet grocery and wine market, and beloved “Upstairs" home and gift store. Pierre’s restaurants, clothing stores, and wineries have a presence in Montecito's Upper Village, Coast Village Road, in downtown Santa Barbara, within the bustling Funk Zone, and even in Los Olivos — all under the Pierre Lafond umbrella. Pierre Lafond pioneered the wine industry in Santa Barbara County by establishing the first winery post-prohibition, Santa Barbara Winery, in 1962.

Upstairs offers a wonderful mix of hand-picked home furnishings and gifts. Shelley Koury, the store’s buyer, has spent over twenty years traveling the globe in search of unique treasures. Staying one step ahead, Shelley has curated every inch of the Upstairs to insure a flawless offering of table top, art,
bedding, books and clothing for men, women, and children.
